The Hampden Group Holdings Advisory Board was formed to ensure that our business was responsive to the constantly changing needs of the sub-prime lending market. We have selected these advisory board members to provide us with guidance in their specialized areas of expertise and to represent disciplines not currently internal to Hampden Group Holdings. Industries represented include banking, financial services, legal, Professional Employer Organizations (PEO’s), payroll processing services, and payday loan companies.
Joel Bennett, CFO, Executive Vice President, JAKKS Pacific, Inc.
Joel M. Bennett, 44, joined JAKKS Pacific, Inc. in September 1995 as Chief Financial Officer and was given the additional title of Executive Vice President in May 2000. From August 1993 to September 1995, he served in several financial management capacities at Time Warner Entertainment Company, L.P., including as Controller of Warner Brothers Consumer Products Worldwide Merchandising and Interactive Entertainment. From June 1991 to August 1993, Mr. Bennett was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of TTI Technologies, Inc., a direct-mail computer hardware and software distribution company. From August 1986 to June 1991, Mr. Bennett held various financial management positions at The Walt Disney Company, including Senior Manager of Finance for its international television syndication and production division. From August 1983 to August 1986, Mr. Bennett was an auditor with Ernst & Young LLP (formerly Arthur Young & Company). Mr. Bennett holds a Master of Business Administration degree and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Joseph (Joe) Botero, Senior Vice President, 1st National Bank of Arizona
Joseph (Joe) L. Botero is a seasoned banking services professional employed by 1st National Bank of Arizona. Joe has an outstanding ability to analyze, comprehend and communicate complex financial information; possesses a strong combination of analytical and people skills with exceptional verbal and written communication proficiency. He is excellent at consulting with clients’ and motivating them to implement recommended actions. Joe attended the University of Miami in Florida, a veteran of Vietnam with the Marine Corps and recipient of numerous decorations.
John Mathis – Ph.D., Professor and Director, Thunderbird International Banking Institute
Dr. Mathis is Professor of International Banking and Finance at Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management in Glendale, Arizona, where he formerly chaired the World Business Department. He also is a member of Thunderbird's Executive Education faculty. The Thunderbird International Trade Finance Center, headed by Dr. Mathis, serves as a focal point for training programs, research projects, conferences, and roundtable meetings on all aspects of international banking and trade finance for U.S. and international banks. Prior to Thunderbird, Dr. Mathis was Senior Portfolio Officer with the World Bank/International Finance Corporation and Senior Financial Analyst with the World Bank/International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. For 14 years, he was Chief International Economist with Continental Illinois Bank and before that was with the Chase Manhattan Bank. Dr. Mathis is President of Transnational Corporate Advisory Services, Inc., a financial consulting, training, and research company.
Richard H. Humphrey, President/CEO, Pay-Tech Inc.
Richard H. Humphrey founded Pay-Tech Incorporated in 1992 to provide payroll services to small and medium size businesses in the Phoenix area. Today, Pay-Tech is the third largest Professional Employer Organizations (PEO’s) in Arizona, outsourcing the human resources function for hundreds of employers throughout the southwest. Prior to starting Pay-Tech, Mr. Humphrey owned and operated Computerized Accounting Concepts, Ltd., a very successful accounting and tax preparation firm and was comptroller for The Beatitudes for over a decade. Mr. Humphrey is currently serving on the Board of Directors for Cross Roads Rehabilitation Center in Phoenix and has been a member of numerous professional organizations including the National Association of Small Business Accountants, National Association of Professional Employer Organizations (NAPEO) and Independent Payroll Providers Association (IPPA).
Roger K. Marach
Roger K. Marach, has over 34 years of experience in financial management, the last 22 in senior executive positions at both privately and publicly held companies. Marach spent over ten years as the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of a publicly traded, global semiconductor capital equipment manufacturer headquartered in Arizona. Between the initial public offering and two follow-on equity offerings, Marach raised $230 million for this company in the space of three years. He has participated in building several manufacturing and service companies to levels at which they could compete effectively on a global basis. He has also negotiated and managed the merger, acquisition and/or divestiture of various companies. In addition to his finance and manufacturing experience, Marach’s background includes management of international operations in the Far East specifically Japan, Taiwan, and Korea as well as Western Europe and Mexico.
Marach holds a Master of Management degree in Finance from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management of Northwestern University (Evanston, IL) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the Illinois Institute of Technology (Chicago, IL). He has taught management science, operational auditing and Information Services courses at the university level and has been an instructor in Electronic Data Base auditing for the American Management Association. He has been a member of the financial Executives Institute for 25 years and served as a director or advisor of both companies and charitable organizations. Marach is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served in Vietnam. He is married and has been for 32 years and has one son.
